What's Happening and Where

Great Yarmouth Minster:

In what is believed to be the largest parish church in England there will be a collection of unique hand-made and specialist craft and food stalls, including: pottery, glassware, woodturning, gift crackers, toys, jewellery, soaps, vases, greeting cards, digital art, knitwear, paintings, sun-catchers, bags, cakes, puddings, pastries, cup cakes, breads, preserves, pickles, sweets and much more.School choirs, bell ringers and local performers will provide a full schedule of festive entertainment in the church all weekend. Look out for the Donkeys that think they are Santa’s Reindeer offering rides outside the Minster on Saturday and Sunday!

Market Place:

The Towns Charter Market will be in full swing during the Christmas Fayre and for the first time in its history, almost all the regular stalls will be under cover in giant marquees for all three days of the event. The market place will also incorporate the Great Yarmouth Food Festival, a regular specialist food event providing opportunities to buy local produce from local suppliers as well as one or two appetising treats from further afield. The food festival will compliment Yarmouth Market’s wide range of fresh locally fare including market gardeners, fishmongers, butchers and of course ‘market chips’. As well as being the place to shop for great value everyday products the Market place will also be the location for a number of fun fair rides during the Christmas Fayre weekend. The whole family can also take a ride on the Santa’s Christmas Roadtrain that will be running a free shuttle service from the Market Place to the Minster between 10.00am and 4.00pm each day of the Fayre. On Sunday, there will be combat displays by the Wuffa Viking re-enactment group, adding to the Norwegian flavour provided by the Norwegian crafters and choir visiting the town for the Fayre.

In the Priory Centre:

The Priory Centre will be home to the visiting Norwegian craft traders again this year as they make their annual visit to the Christmas Fayre. The Norwegian craftsmen and women will be providing a unique opportunity to purchase from a selection of their wares including: handmade pewter, wooden games and puzzles, Norwegian designed knitwear and headgear, cookies, cheeses and cooking Norwegian waffles everyday. They will also be bringing with them a selection of films and slides of their homeland’s culture and landscape that will be shown on a big screen in the Priory’s Noble Hall. Raising money for local causes, the Santa’s Grotto in the Priory Centre will be ideal place to take the smaller children for their annual ‘good or bad’ chat with Father Christmas. Plus the Priory Café will be open all weekend to provide a warm and friendly venue for refreshments. On Sunday the closing Parade will be lead by Father Christmas on his sleigh, starting at 2.45pm from the Town Hall and ending with a ceremony at Great Yarmouth Minster at 3.00pm
