Great Yarmouth Angel Festival

This year Great Yarmouth Minster are celebrating Christmas in a different way. For many years they have invited businesses, schools and community groups to decorate a Christmas Tree but this year they are trying something different and having an Angel Festival.

Angels are an important part of the Christmas story so what better way to celebrate Christmas than to turn the Minster into the Heavenly Host with angels of all shapes and sizes. The Minster Angel exhibition opens from Friday 8th to Sunday 15th December when public entry to the Festival is free.

Lantern Making Workshop

Join the Christmas Lantern Parade on Saturday 9th December by joining the Lantern making workshop at at 2pm Saturday before the parade. The annual will start from Priory 1101 later that afternoon from 3.30pm. The workshop is free and open to anyone, however children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Free Parking – Town Centre council car parks are free to park on all day Saturdays and Sundays until Christmas.

Great Yarmouth Herring Trail 2023

As part of the 2023 Great Yarmouth Arts Festival the town centre is hosting a ‘Herring Trail’. Great Yarmouth’s fame and fortune was based on the herring and millions were exported around the world. The Herring Trail will incorporate over twenty 90cm tall Herring wood carvings made and decorated by students at the two Great Yarmouth Colleges to be displayed around the town centre.

Great Yarmouth Arts Festival 2023

The Great Yarmouth Arts Festival returns on September 22nd for its ninth year bringing 10 days of music, visual arts, theatre, heritage events and performances to the town.  The annual Carnival procession is on Saturday 23 September and will start at 12noon at Anchor Gardens on the Seafront, pass up Regent Road, through the Market Place, along King Street to St. Georges Theatre and onto St. Georges Park. The procession should reach St. Georges Part between 1.30pm and 2pm.

The King’s Wardrobe Storytrail – Kings Coronation

From May 1st – June 2nd
As part of the Town Centre Partnership’s celebration for King Charles III’s coronation,
we’ve teamed up with digital experience company High Street Safari to run a free family
trail in Great Yarmouth town centre.

The trail works by utilising contactless QR codes, without the need for players to download or sign up to anything.
The trail consists of 10 story-points with embedded QR codes.

How to Play:

1. Find your location on the link below.

2. Read the introduction and see your local map.

3. Visit all 10 and scan the QR codes.

4. Once you’ve visited all of the stops, meet the king in AR, take a prize badge selfie and download the free ebook.

Community Coronation Celebration

Come along and join us in celebrating the coronation of our new King.

We are holding a Community Coronation Celebration ‘Big Lunch’ on Church Plain and in the Minster on Sunday 7th May.

This is a fantastic opportunity join with other community members in celebrating the coronation of our new Monarch.

Organised by Kirsty’s Cakery, the Parish of Great Yarmouth and the Great Yarmouth Town Centre Partnership the day will start at 11am with tables laid out for the Big Lunch, with stalls, crafts, entertainment, kiddies rides, displays, BBQ and much more.

Live music from 11am with local 3-piece acoustic band ‘New Rule’ followed by guitarist and vocalist Chris Newman.

Bring your own food and refreshments to join the Big Lunch or purchase from the BBQ or Kirsty’s Cakery and enjoy the day.

The Big Lunch will be followed by the Coronation Service held in the Minster at 3pm
which will be followed by complimentary tea and cake sponsored by the Town Centre Partnership.

Free Easter Bonnet Making Workshop

14/03/2023

On Thursday 6th April the Town Centre Partnership has organised an Easter Bonnet making workshop for children and families. The free crafts workshop where children will be able to make their Easter Bonnets prior to the Easter weekend will be hosted in Market Gates shopping centre outside Wilko between 10am and 2pm. Children participating in the Easter Bonnet Making workshop must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Cuppa Care Project Bus

Whether you just want to get out of the house, to meet new people, or chat about something that’s worrying you – Hear for Norfolk have friendly people on board of their Cuppa Care Bus who can help. Apart from us (Hear for Norfolk) you will be able to access support from Age UK Norwich, Vision Norfolk, Norfolk LGBT+ Project, Norfolk and Waveney Mind, Norfolk CAB, Age UK Norfolk and The Wellbeing Service.
